HANA TEXTILE

Project born from our visit to Kyoto during

the Study Away program at ArtCenter

Inspired by the tight and seamless relation Kyoto citizens and their architecture have with nature. Developed 2 patterns during the Kyoto Culture//Craft Program at ArtCenter.

THE EXPERIENCE

The goal of our visit to Kyoto was to give us first-hand exposure to the culture, history, aesthetics, and traditions of Japan. This allowed us to create an arrange of projects during the length of the class, one of them being the Hana textile.

IDEATION

The design excercise allowed us to do any object we wanted to, using bamboo as the main component.

My teammate Moe and I decided to do a lamp with movable parts that allowed us to modulate the amount of light.
